Most tourists do not know the beautiful exotic beaches of Rio de Janeiro. There are less known beaches located about 40 km south-west of Rio. Of course we’ll also visit the better known “urban beaches” such as Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon. But then we drive on to Sao Conrado beach where we make a stop and watch the kite gliders in their landing maneuvers. Afterwards, our tour continues further to the newer and more modern quarters Barra da Tijuca and Recreio with their increasingly popular beaches which are still less crowded than those in the southern zone (Zona Sul). There is also a nature reserve surrounding one of the lagunes named Lagoa de Marapendi.
Continuing west, we finally reach Prainha and Grumari beach where we will find some time to relax. There are no residence buildings bordering these beaches even though they are located within the city of Rio de Janeiro. The blue sea invites you to take a swim and there are restaurants and lots of beach bars offering typical brazilian sea food, like the famous Muqueca which is a kind of enriched fish soup. The diversity in food and drink offers is huge – there is no way not to be satisfied. We will also have time to visit one of the most famous museums of popular art, the Casa do Pontal.
You decide on this excursion. Would you like to stay a little bit longer on the beaches, or perhaps you like to visit one of the numerous beach bars to drink fresh coconut milk, a Caipirinha or beer, or do you prefer just to relax and catch some sun recharging the batteries?
